We’re hiring! two AmeriCorps VISTA members to help with FutureHeights programs in Cleveland Heights

FutureHeights is seeking two focused, creative AmeriCorps*VISTA members to join our team for 2018-19.

The FutureHeights Summer VISTA will work with our director of community-building programs to conduct outreach in target neighborhoods. This 10-week position will take place June 4 through Aug. 12. The FutureHeights Full-Time VISTA will develop a system to monitor tax-delinquent and tax-lien properties and partner with relevant entities, such the city and county land banks, to assist FutureHeights in developing new housing programs that will stabilize neighborhoods, reducing the housing burden of low-income residents and maintaining/increasing housing values throughout Cleveland Heights, and especially in neighborhoods suffering from disinvestment. About the AmeriCorps*VISTA program: VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. The focus their efforts to build the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities. The program is administered by the Ohio CDC Association (OCDCA), a statewide membership organization of Community Development Corporations (CDCs).

The VISTA will receive a modest living allowance (established in writing by VISTA; the stipend is expected to be $1,026 per month), health coverage, and the choice of either an education award or an end-of-service stipend upon completion of service (The education award is valued at $5,920, and many institutions participate in a matching program. The cash stipend is $1,500). VISTA members are able to hold a part-time job or attend school, as long as it does not interfere with the VISTA service position. Learn more about VISTA Benefits.
